Wash the whole set before first use. New terry carries a light finish from weaving, and the first wash is what opens the pile up.
Everything in the set washes the same way: warm, like colours, no softener, tumble low or hang.
Hang the mat between uses rather than leaving it flat on the floor.

Materials and care
Warm machine wash with like colours. The whole set takes the same treatment, so it can go in together.
No fabric softener — it lays a coating over the loops that are meant to be absorbing water.
Tumble low or hang. Avoid high heat, which shortens the life of the pile.
Wash new darks separately for the first few cycles.
