Wash before first use. New terry carries a light finish from weaving, and the first wash is what opens the pile up.
Hang it over the bath or the rail between uses rather than leaving it flat on the floor. A mat that dries out fully lasts longer and stays fresher.
Turn it over now and then for a fresh look and feel.

Tumble low or hang. Avoid high heat, which shortens the life of the pile.

Why is the mat heavier than the towels?
It has a harder job. A mat takes the water off two wet feet twice a day and then has to dry out before it does it again, so it is woven at 600GSM against 530 for the bath sheets and hand towels.
What size is it?
50 × 85cm. For comparison, our bath sheets are 90 × 165cm and our hand towels 50 × 70cm.
What does double-sided mean?
Both faces are finished, so you can turn it over to suit the room, or simply to share the wear between the two sides.
Does it have a rubber backing?
No. It is cotton terry all the way through, which is why it can go straight in the machine and does not crack, peel or shed the way a backed mat does over time. On a polished or tiled floor, a mat without a backing will move. Worth knowing before you choose.
